Delos Invites Shrimp Farmers to Increase Profitability with Aquahero

Delos, an aquatech startup from Indonesia has developed a pond management system so that it can help farmers increase the profitability and productivity of their shrimp ponds.
Meanwhile, Delos was founded by Guntur Mallarangeng together with Bobby Indra Gunawan and Alexander Farthing in 2021.
Armed with the application and knowledge of the Delos team, shrimp farmers are predicted to be able to increase their productivity by 50 to 150 percent.
“Indonesia is the largest maritime country in the world, but there is still no country company that has become the king of the maritime industry at the world level or is globally competitive,” said Guntur Mallarangeng, CEO of Delos, in a recent online interview session.
“Indonesian export products with the highest value only touch 2 billion dollars per year of shrimp. Why can’t it be more?” he said. Starting from this and 5 years of experience managing his own ponds, Guntur decided to form this aquaculture startup.
He admits that one of the reasons why the shrimp farming business in Indonesia is unable to compete with other countries is that the productivity per hectare in the country is relatively small.
“We have many ponds, but because of the low adoption of technology, scientific ability and understanding, low knowledge of water cultivation, R&D, and experts in this field, we have lost to other countries,” explained Guntur.
However, he is optimistic that shrimp farmers in Indonesia can increase profitability, productivity, and overcome these challenges by applying scientific technology, management, and SOPs from Delos.
Aquahero Application Can Be Used By Farmers
Furthermore, he also said that Delos’ application called Aquahero can be used by shrimp farmers and increase the profitability of their shrimp ponds.
“Delos is an extension of our 5 years of experience in shrimp farming, Aquahero’s technology and applications are just tools.”
Like buildings, Guntur et al already have a ‘blueprint’ obtained through long experience of trial and error to create the Aquahero application.
“Like a building, the Aquahero application already has a blueprint that we got with blood, tears, and losses for 2.5 years of managing our own shrimp ponds.”
Then how does the Delos team educate farmers to adopt Aquahero? “We will accompany it. The application is only a tool, and we will prove it with results. It’s simple,” he said.
When asked how long he would assist the farmers, he said that the Delos team’s assistance would be carried out full time. “Our team will supervise and train farmers in the field. Many things need to be managed, from SOPs to shrimp feed.”
Requirements for Shrimp Farmers to Join Delos
“The mind must be open,” said Guntur when asked about the requirements if there are shrimp farmers who want to join Delos.
“The most important thing is to have an open mind, because the decisions that our team and the app recommend are different from how farmers used to run their shrimp farms before.”
Guntur also explained that Aquahero is not a B2C application but rather a B2B used by the Delos internal team to help people’s greed.
“We understand that in Indonesia, depending on the application alone, it will be difficult to change people’s behavior, therefore we will assist farmers and provide them with free applications.”
When asked how the profit was distributed, Guntur said, “If we succeed in increasing productivity, then we will share the results.”
For shrimp farmers who want to join Delos, they can directly contact the Delos team via information that can be obtained from its website.
“As long as the infrastructure is adequate, but management, business and scientific are still lacking, we can immediately help in the next cycle.”
Currently, Delos already has members of shrimp farming farmers with a total area of 70 hectares within 7 months. “There are in Lampung, West Java, and East Java,” he said.
