Functioning as a tool to support creators and businesses in marketing on social media, Linktree’s link-in-bio platform has a business plan in Indonesia after receiving $110 million in funding.
This funding has also made them an Australian unicorn company with a valuation of around $1.3 billion.
Linktree Indonesia Country Manager Michael Wijaya revealed the uniqueness of Linktree users in this market and Indonesia’s potential as a country that is included in the top 5 largest markets globally.
Marketing Activity Support Tools
Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, Linktree was founded by Alex Zaccaria, Anthony Zaccaria and Nick Humphreys in 2016. They claim to be the first link-in-bio platform that allows users to easily identify online and commercialize their profiles.
With a single link, users can direct their audience to many other links that they want to promote, such as links to websites, online stores, as well as documents.
The pandemic is also said to have driven Linktree’s growth globally. In Indonesia, since 2020 the number of users has increased 10 times. The users are also diverse, ranging from influencers, content creators, to community activists.
Especially for Indonesia, as a result of the pandemic, many usage patterns have begun to shift, from offline eventually moving to online and affecting the growth of user users.
“This happens organically, because word of mouth is quite interesting for products that grow from referrals, we see this condition as a positive signal in a market,” said Michael.
He added, with its agnostic nature, it is possible for Linktree to serve from various types of users. Starting from individuals, organizations, brands, to the government. Linktree recorded more than 1.2 billion clicks to business-related sites and sales in the past year.
In addition to commercial, Linktree is also widely used for organizational tools, for example they want to make presentations by abandoning old concepts and using Linktree which is equipped with videos.
“A number of working groups or workshops also use Linktree for the distribution of certificates and event registration forms,” said Michael.
For a general monetization strategy, all features can be used by users for free, including the use of the QR Code that has been presented by Linktree.
However, for users who want to enjoy additional features, they can subscribe by choosing 4 packages that have been launched starting this year.
“The prices we offer are very affordable and competitive. Starting from Rp. 39 thousand to around Rp. 200 thousand. Based on the research we did, these prices are competitive compared to other similar platforms,” said Michael.
In Indonesia, platforms or tools that offer almost similar options include Lynk.id Desty, and Oneblink, which was developed by MTARGET.
Linktree Plan After Funding
To date, there are 250 different Linktree users recorded worldwide. In 2020 to 2021, the verticals of creators, musicians, and small businesses each experienced an average growth of more than 300%.
They also claim to be one of the fastest growing platforms in the world with more than 24 million users. In March this year Linktree had successfully completed a $110 million fundraiser led by Index Ventures and Coatue with a valuation of $1.3 billion.
Previous Linktree investors were involved in this funding round, including AirTree Ventures and Insight Partners, as well as new participation from Greenoaks Capital.
Next, Linktree will use its new funding to expand its market, build teams, generate revenue, and deliver more benefits to its users through feature development and partnerships.
Officially proclaimed ‘unicorn’, Linktree continues to prioritize the needs of creators, businesses and all users as one of the 300 most popular sites globally with 1.2 billion unique visitors per month.
