STRATEGIC COLLABORATION TO ENHANCE ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH

Serba Dinamik Group Berhad (Serba Dinamik) and University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering (UNIMY) today signed a Certificate of Collaboration (CoC) which allows both parties to work together in conducting technical training and technology sharing, expertise and certification programmes that are recognized by the TVET institutions, Malaysian Polytecnic from Terengganu.
The collaboration, streamed live on UNIMY official Facebook page, involves three Polytechnics, namely Politeknik Besut Terengganu, Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Dungun dan Politeknik Kuala Terengganu.
The CoC was signed by UNIMY Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Razali Muhamad, while for Serba Dinamik, it was signed by the Group Managing Director of Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad, Dato’ Dr. Ir. Ts. Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah.
UNIMY Vice Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Razali Muhamad, stressed that in this uncertain situation, an organisation, especially higher education institutions such as universities and Polytechnics, should not operate alone or ‘silo’. Smart collaboration must be formed so that limited resources can be utilised optimally.
“I am confident that the commitment to collaborate between UNIMY and the three Polytechnics will be followed by hard work in achieving the target of several academic and research projects to create success stories that will provide greater encouragement and motivation.
“The cooperation will also result in savings in terms of finance, human resources and other physical resources. I believe the advantages of each party will be synergized together and this effort will continue in preserving the collaboration “, he said at the CoC Collaboration Signing Ceremony today.
The Group Managing Director of Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad, Dato ‘Dr. Ir. Ts. Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah said, Serba Dinamik has long been involved in the international and local business arena, so this collaboration should be key to be success towards Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0.
“We need to realise that the 21st century learning syllabus needs to be embedded and implemented according to technological developments that are rapidly changing to face the IR 4.0. At the Polytechnic and University levels, they need to be prepared to accept the challenges of forming a stronger digital ecosystem.”
He also explained that it is a process where every level of educational institution needs to take seriously to continue to support the mandate of IR 4.0 to remain relevant amid current market developments.
“I have full confidence that this joint collaboration can develop Polytechnics and UNIMY students to have strong expertise that would expand their job opportunities in the future,” he said when signing the CoC.
According to the Director of Politeknik Besut Terengganu, Che Mukhtar Bakar, Polytechnic has made history for a long time in providing Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) in line with the demand for skilled manpower in the field of Industrial Revolution 4.0.
“We have trained students in various technical and vocational fields in line with IR 4.0 with emphasis on the development of the Internet of Things (IOT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“The collaboration between Serba Dinamik and UNIMY and other Polytechnics can produce students to achieve graduate marketability to become a developed country in line with the digital and technology industry,” he said when signing the CoC.
Also present at the Collaboration Certificate (CoC) Signing Ceremony was the Director of Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Dungun, Sr. Haji Mohd Fikri Ismail and the Director of Politeknik Kuala Terengganu, Dr. Hj. Mohd Daud Isa.
The CoC outlines a strategic collaboration between Serba Dinamik, UNIMY and the three Polytechnics, and the main agenda are as follows:
- Collaboration in curriculum development,
- Involvement in staff and student development and mobility programs,
- Involvement in research, research, innovation and publishing programs,
- Involvement in seminar, workshop, symposium and community activities,
- Involvement in entrepreneurship and commercialization programs, and
- Information sharing of knowledge, skills and equipment in areas that have been identified together.
