Supported by Singapore Investors, Gredu Startup Aims to Attract 600 Schools

Education startup, Gredu targets to be able to hook 600 schools in Indonesia until the end of this year. The startup has already received pre-series A funding from an investor from Singapore, Vertex Ventures.

Gredu CEO Rizky Anies explained, his company provides applications for schools, teachers, students, and parents. The applications are integrated into one management system.

The startup is targeting students and schools ranging from Elementary Schools (SD) to High Schools (SMA). So far, Gredu has collaborated with 200 public and private schools in DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Sumatra, and Riau Islands.

More than 70% of them are public schools. “The target is 500-600 schools. We are realistic first, we want to emphasize not only the scope of schools but to the national level, “Rizky said in Jakarta, Monday (1/20).

To achieve this target, the company focuses on conducting socialization in several cities in Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Bali to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). In Indonesia, this company competes with similar startups such as Ruangguru, HarukaEdu, Zenius, and others.

This year, the company plans to release new features for payment, data storage, and mapping the Global Positioning System (GPS) in the application. The company will hook several partners for development. “The target is to launch early in the second quarter,” he said.

Rizky said the company had raised funding for the third time. The first is from an individual investor (angel investor). Then, the startup gets fresh funds from the GWC Innovator Fund. Finally, from Vertex Ventures.

Rizky also emphasized that Gredu was able to ease the administrative burden on teachers and even could save teachers up to 2 hours.

“Different from other products that pursue values, Gredu designs solutions for digitizing the school environment by building a centralized management system that is supported by separate applications for teachers, parents, and students. At present, Gredu has four main products in different applications. First, the School Management System is an administration application for accessing, processing and concisely presenting data. This application aims to ease the workload of school administration.

Second, Gredu Teacher is an application to make it easier for teachers to monitor student attendance, make exam questions and grade them, and plan class activities.

Third, Gredu Parent or application for parents to be able to follow the development of learning in terms of test scores, attendance, and teacher recommendations. Also, parents can pay tuition and Educational Development Donations (SPP) through this application.

Finally, Gredu Student or application for students. Through this platform, students can find out grades, attendance, schedule of learning activities and report when bullying occurs at school. This application also provides electronic books (e-books).
